Welcome to the 2nd Grade Math Salamanders Free Online Math Learning area.

Here you will find links to our online math tests, jigsaw games and practice zones where you will be able to test and practice your math knowledge and skills. There are a range of tests to help you learn your addition facts, multiplication tables, test your number bonds knowledge and much more!

  • This page contains links to other Math webpages where you will find a range of activities and resources.
  • If you can't find what you are looking for, try searching the site using the Google search box at the top of each page.

In our practice zones, you get the chance to practice your math skills online with instant feedback.

Once you have done a timed quiz, you can see your results and print out your achievements.

The achievement levels are based on the percentage correct and the time taken.

  • Gold awards are for outstanding achievement;
  • Silver awards represent very good acheivement;
  • Bronze awards represent good achievement.

These quizzes are great for...

  • benchmarking against future progress or setting targets;
  • class competitions;
  • assessing specific mental calculation skills.

The quizzes can also be tailored to the specific skills that you want to develop.

You can set each quiz to Individual or Class/Group mode.

Individual Mode

When working in Individual Mode, you can:

  • change the settings between each game to tailor them to your needs;
  • click the Results button to see which questions you got right, and what your mistakes were;
  • print out your results to show what you have achieved, and to try to beat your score next time.

Class/Group Mode

When working in Group mode, you can:

  • view the top 3 scores for your group;
  • click on the Results button to see all the scores for your group;
  • sort the results easily so that you can see who has achieved the learning objective and who needs more practice or support;
  • click on the Reset button to get ready for the next player;
  • clear all the scores and settings by refreshing the page.

In Group Mode, you cannot see how you answered each individual question - you can only see the results for you group.

In Group Mode the settings are locked to prevent any tampering.

If you wish to change the settings, then refresh the page in your browser - you will lose all your data when this happens!

Place Value Practice

In our Math Place Value Practice area, you can practice your place value skills, combining thousands, hundreds, tens and ones.

You can also test your place value knowledge by entering the value of a given digit in a number.

You can select the numbers you want to practice with, and print out your results when you have finished.

You can also use the practice zone for benchmarking your performance, or using it with a group of children to gauge progress.

Addition Practice Zone

Here is our online math learning addition zone, where you can practice a range of integer addition calculations.

Test yourself on the following addition facts:

  • up to 5+5, 10+10, 20+20, 30 + 30, 50+50 or 100+100;
  • 2 digit numbers adding 1 or ones;
  • 2 digit numbers adding tens;
  • 3 digit numbers adding ones, tens or hundreds;

Subtraction Practice Zone

Here is our online math learning subtraction practice area where you can test yourself on your subtracting skills.

Test yourself on the following integer subtraction facts:

  • up to 10, 15, 20, 50, 100, 200, 500 or 1000;
  • 2 digit subtract ones;
  • 2 digit subtract tens;
  • 3 digit subtract hundreds.

Multiplication Practice Zone

Here is our online math learning practice zone for multiplication facts.

Using this zone is a great way to test yourself on your facts and see how many you can do in a minute.

Then re-test yourself and see if you can improve your score.

Using this zone, you can:

  • choose tables up to 5x5, 10x10 or 12x12 to test yourself on;
  • select one or more tables to test yourself on;
  • practice multiplying whole numbers by 10 or 100.

Division Practice Area

Here is our free division practice area.

If you want to practice your division facts, or take a timed division test, then this is the place for you.

In this area, we cover the following division facts:

  • division facts from 4x4, up to 10x10;
  • division facts linked to individual tables facts.

Addition & Subtraction Practice

Here is our online math learning addition and subtraction practice area.

Practice and improve your addition and subtraction facts here.

Test yourself on the following facts:

  • + and - facts to 10, 15, 20, 50, 100, 500 or 1000.
  • adding and subtracting ones to/from 2 digit numbers;
  • adding and subtracting tens to/from 2 digit numbers;
  • adding and subtracting hundreds to/from 3 digit numbers.

It uses the same settings as the addition zone and the subtraction zone.

Multiplication & Division Practice Area

Here is our online math learning zone for practicing multiplication and division.

This generator generates random questions with both multiplication and division calculations.

It is ideal for getting children to practice both multiplication and division together.

This will help children see and understand the link between multiplication and division.

It uses the same settings as the separate multiplication and division areas.

Rounding Practice Zone

In our Rounding Practice zone, you can practice rounding a range of numbers. You can round numbers to the nearest 10, 100 or even 1000.

Select the numbers you want to practice with, and print out your results when you have finished.

You can also use this online math learning zone for benchmarking your performance, or using it with a group of children to gauge progress.

Number Bonds Practice

In our Number Bonds Practice area, you can practice your number bonds to a variety of numbers. Test your numbers bonds to 10, 20 , 100 or even 1000. Want to try decimals - you can do that too!

Money Addition and Subtraction Zone

Here you will find our very own money zone to create tailor-made money quizzes to practice.

You can choose what value you wish go up to, and whether you want to add or subtract money amounts.

The following areas are covered:

  • money addition and/or subtraction up to $1, $5, $10, $20, $50 or $100.
  • $ and £ notation supported;
  • adding in cents (or pence) up to $1 (or £1) with no decimals.
