Welcome to the 2nd Grade Math Salamanders Mental Math Worksheets.

Here you will find our selection of free mental math sheets to help your child practice their mental math and problem solving skills.

Our mental math worksheets cover all the different areas of math learning, from place value and number sense, to geometry and measurements.

Our selection of mental math worksheets is a great way of practising your number and math skills.

The sheets can be used in a variety of ways, as a test or revision practise, or as part of a weekly quiz to help reinforce skills.

One of the best ways to use these sheets is to get children to work in pairs, discussing the questions as they work through them.

The questions have been designed to practise a range of math skills from number to geometry and measurement facts, including using time and money.

The quizzes are in order of difficulty with the questions getting slightly harder in each quiz.

Mental Math 2nd Grade Worksheets

Our Mental Math sheets have been divided into 3 series.

Series A - easiest level

Series B - medium level

Series C - harder level

Each series involves answering a range of questions about different math topics.

There are a range of math questions including:

  • addition, subtraction and addition questions;
  • place value questions;
  • properties of number questions, e.g. odd and even numbers;
  • simple balancing equation questions;
  • doubling and halving questions;
  • geometry question involving properties of 2d shapes;
  • money problems;
  • measures facts and problems;
  • real-life questions.

All the sheets are provided with their own answer sheets.

Mental Math Sheets - Series A (Easier)

Series A Mental Math Worksheets are at an easier level than those in this section.

These sheets have been designed to follow on from the sheets in Section A.

The format of the worksheets is very similar.

Mental Math Sheets - Series B (Medium)

Series B Mental Math Sheets are at a slightly harder level than those in this section.

They have been designed to follow on from the sheets in Section A.

The format of the worksheets is very similar.

Mental Math Sheets - Series C (Hard)

Series C Mental Math sheets are at a much more challenging level than those in this section.

They have been designed to follow on from the sheets in Section B.

They are a good way of stretching more able mathematicians at a 2nd grade level.

The format of the worksheets is very similar.

Online Mental Math Practice

If you are looking for a chance to develop your child's mental math skills online, then try our online math learning zone.

You can practice your addition, subtraction, multiplication skills.

You can develop your understanding of place value and how much each digit in a number is worth.

There is a timed mode, or a fun jigsaw mode to try out.
